One of the things you will find I’ll talk about a lot, here on Becoming Financially Savvy, is the importance of self development and being open to opportunities.  The opportunity to create and earn a secondary income; to meet like-minded individuals; and to grow as individuals living ON purpose.

Attending the numerous events in and around London and the UK, some of which are free, you will find is a great way of accomplishing this.  Here is a review on a couple of events I attended last month.

Rich Dad Education – Thursday, 21 January 2010 (www.richdadedu.co.uk )

I found this event excellent and very congruent to where I am in my life at the moment! So much so, that a lot of what the speaker touched on and advised the audience to do in order to move their life from the rat race to one of design, I was and am already implementing!

The speakers name was Matthew Watson, a former Trader, now with his own companies.   Although, he was a very good presenter, the seminar did go on for half an hour too long!  However, during the course of the evening he covered subjects from having the right mindset and attitude in order to create wealth and opportunity; how the conventional route society teaches us limits our ability to reach our full potential; how people change when times are hardest, like in a recession; how growth means change and change involves risk; and finally how money is not a motivator but solely a tool to achieving our goals and dreams.

The event was free and similar to many of these types of seminar there was an up-sell at the end and during the presentation itself, involving property. Which isn’t where my focus is at the moment; but even so, the content was excellent! And the value I received was defintiely worth two hours of my time, if not more.

Veritas Trading Event – Wednesday, January 20 2010 (www.veritastraders.co.uk)

This was the first ever Trading event I had attend and was slightly anxious about it, as I numbers and graphs has never been my thing!  But since I promote Trading as one of the many ways of creating a secondary or even primary income via my company: Butterfly Wealth Creation, I thought it time I educated myself on better understanding this income strategy.

The founder of Veritas Trading, Eamon Phillips, is a confident and amiable speaker, who took the time to interact with his audience, as well as the audience to interact back with him.

He explained the basics of Trading, as well as the various ways to Trade: Forex, Securities, Spread Betting, etc. His main focus being on Spread Betting, for reasons he did explain but I don’t recall now. (You will just have to attend the next event to find out!! : -)

He gave various examples and analogies on how Trading works, clearly stating that there will be losses, and that Trading is not a get rich quick strategy to wealth, but a consistent and diligent activity over an adequate period time; like any realistic wealth creation strategy.

During the presentation one of his clients came online and virtually showed us how Veritas Traders system works; how he trades; and what he had traded on that day. I found that really interesting and informative.

And this is what I believe is one of Veritas Traders key selling points: the fact that they are hands on! They understand that individuals need experience, which is why after three days of training with a client, the client joins them in their ‘Live Virtual Trading Room’, where one can watch, copy and learn how the market plays out in real time. Coupled with this, their programme provides 9 months of ongoing support, as well as an extensive video archive on live trades, setups and market reviews.

Similar to most of the wealth creation strategies I promote at Butterfly Wealth Creation, Vertias Traders’ programme is designed for people who want to leave full-time employment and trade for a living and are serious about sustainable wealth creation.

I enjoyed the event and came out of it less overwhelmed with the complexities of Trading!
