Depending how you look at it some would say no and some would say yes! Here’s why….

Those that would say no, are of course the optimist that believe owning ‘some’ gold is better than owning none at all. As well as those who choose to see the opportunity in a situation rather than the challenge, and thus embrace the notion that ‘they don’t know what they don’t know!’ But if there is a will there is a way!

Those that say yes, it is too late may have there own agenda for saying so! Or they may just simply be the opposite, in way of thinking and doing, to the ‘no’ camp.

Ultimately you have to decide which camp you are in, act accordingly and don’t complain about the consequence of your choice and actions when the proverbial ‘shit’ hits the fan!

Time is running out to really protect one’s self (and family) from the economic cleansing which is starting to take on momentum. It is simply as that! Now is not the time to sit and ponder but take action. Gold continues to rise due to loose monetary policy and public debt worries here in the EU and US. On Aug 11, 2011 Gold was at USD 1760.00, GBP 1087.23 & EUR 1239.52; and although it fluctuates, it continues to rise. Can you imagine if you brought last year, when Gold hadn’t even reach USD 1200 yet?

Below is a very insightful video on how the currency crisis is a Western World issue, and how the Eurozone and US debt crisis simply mirror one another. A solution is offered! If you agree with that solution then contact me and I will show you how you can implement that solution in a secure and cost effective way!

Remember if there is will, a determination to change or improve your circumstances, then there is always a way!!

The video is 10 minutes long but well worth the watch!

Today the UK Government announced their cuts to the public sector as part of the austerity package for the next 4 years. These cuts are due to the last recession and the consequently stagnation of the global economy. These cuts will affect everyone so it is important to keep abreast of what is going on, irrelevant if you want to become financially savvy or not! For further information on these cuts, click here.

As a consequence I thought I would write this piece in order to further educate you on the importance of understanding what Inflation, Deflation and Hyperinflation is, and how each one can, and will, affect our economy, our lives and our money.

Many do not want to hear it, many do not want to believe it but the fact of the matter is although many will say they have been through and survived a recession before, we are in unprecedented times. There has never been a recession or time like this. This recession was not based on a housing boom or a stock boom, contrary what we have been led to believe, but the over inflation of our world’s currencies. There is a reason why every shopkeeper and his dog are asking for your Gold! But you need to ask yourself why?? Is there something they know that you need to know? Furthermore, we are going to enter another recession, otherwise known as the double dip. This recession will be longer and harder than the one we have just come out of, as such you job is not going to save you and neither is your devaluing cash/savings. Only learning the new rules of money will, i.e becoming financially savvy.

Robert Kiyosaki, author of ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ says ‘if you are still reliant on the old rules of money, go to school, get an education, get a good steady paying job with a good pension and then retire, you are going to become obsolete’.

Right now we are in the midst of the biggest wealth transfer in world history! Where the middle class are being wiped out and a clear line between the rich and poor is being created.

The conduit of this transfer of wealth is Inflation. How? Because as the value of goods go up you will have to pay more for them, equalling you losing/spending your money fast on the simply basics! It is for this reason gold (and silver) has gone up and will continue to go up for the foreseeable future. It is a store of wealth and the oldest currency in the world!

Below are succinct definitions, on what inflation, deflation and hyperinflation are: -

Inflation is a growth in the supply of money and credit, leading to higher prices; as in our world’s central banks (Bank of England, Central European Bank, The Federal Reserve, amongst others) creating more money via the printing press, otherwise known as quantative easing, to stimulate the economy.

Deflation is a decline in the supply of money and credit, leading to lower prices. This can be brought on by people not spending, as is the present case right now. No one wants to spend because they are worried about their jobs and the future of the country.

Hyperinflation is inflation gone out of control, as in what happened in 1920’s Germany, and which can happen here in the UK, Europe US and essentially the World.

The following video, although about the US economy is still pertinent to the UK, as our policies are intrinsically linked; furthermore whatever happens in the US generally affects the rest of the world one way or another, like it or not! So pllease watch and be educated.

To end, I am not a financial advisor nor am I an economic graduate, just a everyday ‘person’ who got badly burnt by the last recession, as well as because of my own lack of financial education. So, my question to you is how badly bitten do you have to be before you start educating yourself financially? There is still time to learn, implement and prepare so don’t wait too long! Because those who refuse to hear, will feel! And the pain will be far worse than a bite!

Do you know the difference between financial security, financial freedom and financial independence? Interestingly enough, not many people do! And if I were to ask a number of individuals from mainstream society, which of the three would they want for themselves most would choose financial security, as it is what they understand most. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but neither is it a great thing because who or what exactly is responsible for providing that (financial) security?

Just like the individual words themselves: Security, Freedom and Independence; financial security, freedom and independence, connotates three different things. And depending on the context in which they are stated they will again have a different meaning. So within the context of becoming financially savvy and financial education, this is how I define the three.

Financial Security is knowing you have enough to live on for life or having a good job/pension/income that affords you a good standard of living. Generally, when my peers talk about financial security it is relating to having a permanent and well paying J.O.B, albeit if one enjoys it or not. But what happens if one loses that job? Many are now seeing the true reality of financial security, specifically via a J.O.B!

Financial Freedom is similar to financial security in that it can be transitional. I believe it to be the stage from financial security to financial independence. Some believe that just because they are debt free they are, as a result, financially free, but of course this is not necessarily true. Furthermore, one can become financially free because of a lottery win or having received a big bonus from work. But what happens when the money runs out due to whatever reasons? We have all heard the stories of lottery winners losing it all in a number of years! Why, because they thought the money would last forever and thus, got too comfortable with ‘financial freedom’ rather than working towards financial independence.

Financial Independence, on the other hand, is the ultimate and is about being independent of any and all external factors by making your money work for you rather than you work for money. If the economy is up, down, moving left or right, you are able to sustain yourself. You have multiple steams of passive incomes and you know that if all goes wrong tomorrow you can create your wealth again. Essentially it is a state of mind rather than a state of being!

Financial independence is what we should all be aiming for. Individuals such as Richard Branson, Robert Kiyosaki, and Donald Trump are all financially independent beings. They have all created wealth from nothing, and not only once, but many times over. If you can create wealth once you will be able to do it again, as it is a skill not something based on luck!

I attended an event at the weekend called Financial Independence Day, organised by Nikki and Chris Blandin DeChalain of Serene Education. Speakers such as Ryan Pinnock and Rohan Weerasinghe were there sharing their stories and inspiring the crowd towards financial independence. Check out my video review below on the event!

It was a great event and one I would recommend to those starting their journey in becoming financially independent; as well as talking to me, of course. The next Financial Independence Day event is Saturday November 20th 2010.

So, remember, even if you are presently earning a fantastic wage in a great job this will ultimately only give you financial security. Or if you’re a big lottery winner or similar, this will only provide financial freedom for a certain amount of time as stated above. Financial independence is ultimately what you should be aiming for and there are many ways of doing it without breaking the bank! It is all about starting…taking action! So below are 5 Steps to Starting Your Financial Independence Journey:

Great quote by Paula Nelson, bestselling author and entrepreneur! What are your thoughts on starting a business? Is it something that brings out the hebe-jeebies in you, or excites you…into action?

Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the No.1 best selling personal finance book in the world, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, zealously promotes the importance of the Cashflow Quadrant , i.e. moving from the E (employee) and S (self-employee/specialist) quadrant to the B (business owner) and I (investor) quadrant, in order to take more control of one’s career and financial destiny. And I am in total agreement, especially in this current economic climate of salary freezes, and further job cuts on their way, particularly in the public sector after the emergency budget announcement by Cameron and the Con-Dems, next week, Tuesday 22nd June.

This thinking is not just exclusive to Robert Kiyosaki but to the various news articles online and offline, referring to the rise of the entrepreneurs in the UK. In one online report it stated that “Of the 6,000 people polled, 20 per cent describe themselves as self-employed, with the highest concentration of those based in London (25 per cent).”

That is quite a large percentage, and I believe this current sentiment of becoming an entrepreneur was reflected in the great turn out at the last Business Start-Up event, last month.

I have been to the Business Start-Up event before and always find them a great place to network and see what the latest business trends are. What I found interesting about this particular event, however, was the number of network marketing companies exhibiting, plus the various individual distributors networking amongst the guests. The companies and distributors ranged from Utility Warehouse, Monavie, Forever Living, Ardyss, Usanna, Nu Skin, FM, Life Uk Financial and the DSA (Direct Selling Association) – the trade association for the Direct Sales industry.

A lot of people dismiss network marketing without actually having any experience of it, or taking the time out to find out about it, but with inflation, gas, food, taxes and unemployment on the rise, many are becoming more receptive to the idea of plugging into a industry that not only promotes earning a passive income rather than a linear income, but self development and rewards for the work you put in rather than what the title of your role dictates on the marketplace. Right now is great time to get involved, and Robert Kiyosaki latest book The Business of the 21st Century, talks about why network marketing is the business of the 21st century, and he is not even a network marketer!

It is also, interesting to know that 20% of self-made millionaires in the USA made their fortune from network marketing, and that two of the world’ best known entrepreneurs Richard Branson (Virgin VIE) and Donald Trump (The Trump Network) promote network marketing, amongst many others!

Ultimately, whatever business one decides to enter, be it an online business such as internet marketing, affiliate marketing, or network marketing, a franchise or a more traditional bricks and mortars business, one has to do their due diligence by weighing up both the rewards and risks.

There is a lot of help out there for those wanting to start up a business in the more traditional sense (bricks and mortar, franchises, buying businesses, etc) in the form of Business Link and other such agencies, but nothing much for those who want guidance in starting something in the less traditional arena of internet marketing, affiliate marketing, and network marketing. There is a lot of noise out there, especially on the internet, with no clear guidance but that is about to change, so watch this space!

In the meantime I would appreciate if you would participate in a market research survey I am carrying out, please click here to do so! For your participation you will be entered into a prize draw to win a copy of Robert Kiyosaki’s new book The Business of the 21st Century, as mentioned above, with CD. Deadline for entries is Friday 25th June.

To end do not let F.E.A.R (False Evidence Appearing Real) stop you from taking the necessary steps forward in starting your own business, taking more control of your destiny and becoming more financially savvy! Let your assets pay YOU, rather than YOU just simply working for money!

Furthermore, as a note of encouragement, if you look at The Sunday Times Rich list, no one on there is an employee! They are all entrepreneurs and business owners! Interesting aye!

When it comes to financial education one of my favourite authors is Robert Kiyosaki! He took an unpopular subject: Money and how it works, and broke it down for the everyday person making it more popular and easier to understand; as well as more accessible and applicable to the average person and their lives. His books have changed people’s lives!

Rich Dad, Poor Dad, his most popular and best-selling book has sold over 17 million copies; was on the NY Times best selling list for going on seven years, and has been translated into fifty-one languages. From that first book, seven other books have followed making up the Rich Dad series, including one called ‘Rich Dad’s CASHFLOW Quadrant.

Some say it is his most important book in regards to helping people change their lives! The key concept of CASHFLOW Quadrant is that there are four quadrants (as shown in the image for this post), each marked with a letter: E for Employee; S for Self-Employed or Small Business Owner; B for Business Owner; and I for Investor. Robert Kiyosaki explains if you want to achieve financial freedom in your life rather than financial security, you have to change quadrants, rather than jobs.

Here he covers the topic in one of his RICH Dad Education videos:

The current reality is that the Industrial age, when the more traditional job roles such as; the Doctor, Lawyer Teacher and Accountant were the status quo, is now over! We now live in the Information/Internet Age or even Entrepernuerial Age, and the roles I just mentioned are under financial attack. Thus, for those that are working traditional jobs or not, but especially those who are not working, it is time to get creative, to get resourceful! There is no such thing as job security anymore, but financial freedom still exists, and with the various wealth creation tools and strategies available to us at a click of button, there are many ways of obtaining it with hard work and time.

When I look at the CASHFLOW Quadrant I think of it as stages; stages of growth in yourself, your career and finances. Some people jump straight into quadrants B and I or even S, but for most of us we start in the E quadrant. And this is not a bad thing because essentially, this is where we get our experience of what we do and don’t want from our working life. The great thing about the CASHFLOW quadrant is that once you understand that you don’t have to change jobs to achieve financial freedom but simply change quadrants, it is just a question of finding the many ways to move from the E and S quadrant, or even remain in those quadrants whilst you make your transition to the B and I quadrants.

Do you have a skill such as sewing, cooking? If so, why not offer a service to mend people’s clothes or even set up a resturant in your homes – (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00pxpc7)? Some people are looking to set up a franchise (http://www.franchiseinfo.co.uk/exhibition) , or even join a network marketing business, which Robert Kiyosaki says “…a system I often call a personal franchise – [it] is a very democratic way of wealth creation”. Why not start an internet marketing business from home or even become a trader? There are many ways and options to move quadrants and ultimately change your life and fulfil your potential, if YOU just simply take the time to seek them out.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

So, are you ready to change quadrants? If yes, then let me point you in the right direction!!! Get in-touch and let’s discuss!
